Our River Cross Section Maker creates river cross sections from river fieldwork data, calculating the cross sectional area, wetted perimeter, hydraulic radius and discharge. The whole process takes less than five minutes, transforming a previously awkward and often difficult task into a quick and easy one.
Enter river width and depth measurements and your cross section and data are created for download.
Our Sand Dune Profile Maker creates sand dune transect profiles from cumulative distance and slope angle data. Our Beach Profile Creator makes beach profiles from cumulative width and slope angles, calculating the cross sectional area and beach volume. Other beach profile data entry options are available.
Enter your transect cumulative distances and changes in height or slope angle data and your beach or dune profile is created for download.
Offline Mobile Map Data Plotting App for Google Android and Apple iOS
Our Offline Mobile Map Data Plotting App will shortly be available for download on Google Android and Apple iOS mobile (iPad, iPhone) operating systems. This enables users to create data maps in the field, using geo-located map markers supporting colour shading, text, numerical (decimal) data and images. Editable worksheets allowing multiple data inputs for any location are provided in the app as an optional feature.
The map image with location markers and visible data inputs can be downloaded from Android operating systems (or from iTunes for iOS) for direct insertion in a document, printing, or the creation of overlays and further processing.
The app is designed to be easy to use and self-explanatory. For most students, a short demonstration is all that is required to be able to use it independently in the field for the first time.
U6 Geography Students from Xaverian College took another step closer to their exam by spending a week in January studying and interpreting the Barcelona landscape in preparation for their research paper. Xaverian College has been running U6 trips to Barcelona for several years
all of which have proven successful in terms of grades and students enjoyment.

Word Cloud Places and Brands
Our new spin-off website WordCloudIt.com generates Word Clouds for places, names and brands from an analysis of Search Engine results. Places, names and brands can be experienced in different ways by different groups of people and a WordCloudIt.com analysis gives a statistical guide to how we perceive, use and connect to them.

We offer a variety of accommodation options for groups
attending our field study courses. The Artur Martorell Rural Lodge in Calafell has purpose-built facilities and
accommodation for educational study group and lies at the lower end of the
budget range. Many groups prefer hotel accommodation, and the Hotel Piccadilly located in Sitges, one of Spain's most attractive,
cosmopolitan and prestigious resorts, is a very popular choice.
Barcelona Crime Map 2016
The Crime Map of Barcelona shows the highest crime occurs in the city's Old Town (Ciutat Vella) district, which includes El Raval. There were 40 crimes per 100 inhabitants in 2016, from an analysis of the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) data. These are the inner city districts that receive more than 30 million tourists every year, triggering the high crime rate per inhabitant. Barcelona Crime Map
Spain's Rural Depopulation Crisis
The demographic crisis in Spain is worsening. A recent report 'Población y despoblación en España 2016' concludes that more than half of Spain's towns and villages carry a very high to moderate risk of being completely depopulated in the medium and long term. The vast majority of these face extinction as they suffer the continuous ageing of their population with few if any births.
